Steph And Chey: Busted but Brilliant

I'm a bit of a hacker at heart. I love ingenuity, clever fixes, and lateral thinking. Even when the result isn't exactly desirable, I still love the creative process.

That's why I was enormously impressed by two American schoolgirls who were discovered using the comments function on Information Week's blog to pass notes to each other in class.

Their school's firewall blocks IM and message-board systems, but not blogs with message-boards, so the clever girls hijacked his comment-system. The blog's editor Mitch Wagner writes:

  • I'm actually rather impressed by these two girls' ingenuity.
  • On the other hand, it's wrong. Our blog is not your private messaging system. Go leave your notes somewhere else.
  • I expect I'll be working for Steph and Chey in 25 years. Hopefully, they will have forgotten this exchange by then.
  • Don't they teach spelling in schools nowadays?
